Since 1981, Ronald McDonald House in Toronto has provided comfort and aid to seriously ill children and their families.

Julie Elsdon-Height has decided this endeavour should be supported and is planning an Aug. 19 fundraiser at Finn MacCool’s.

The event, called Bald Better Be Beautiful, will feature appetizers, entertainment, a silent auction and door prizes.

It is aptly named because the highlight of the evening will be Ms. Elsdon-Height, a blogger at www.soberjulie.com, having her multi-coloured locks shaved off.

“This is a big deal because my multicoloured hairstyle is my trademark,” said Ms. Elsdon-Height, “one which I’m known for. I would love to raise as much money for Ronald McDonald House, and the families they serve, as possible.

“I specifically chose them as my charity because of the support they’ve provided families in my community over the years. They’ve allowed families a semblance of normal family life which they normally wouldn’t have been able to have due to commuting.”

Bald Better Be Beautiful begins at 2 p.m. and tickets are on sale at $25 per person or $45 per couple.
