It's all about giving back for Sarnia mom Carlene Baltessen.
Last December, her son Jaden Ficht, now 18-months old, required a liver transplant and spent months in SickKids Hospital in Toronto.
“It was rough, I would spend ten hours a day in his room and then go to the Ronald McDonald house to sleep” she said.
Now Baltessen, 30, is hosting a toy drive for the two groups as a way of saying thanks, and to help out families with children who are sick.
Ronald McDonald House Toronto and SickKids partner on a historic first for a Toronto hospital
Toronto (November 12, 2013) – An agreement has been reached between Ronald McDonald House Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) to open the first Ronald McDonald House Toronto Family Room inside the world-renowned paediatric hospital in downtown Toronto.
The largest of its kind in Ontario, the Ronald McDonald House Toronto Family Room at SickKids will provide parents and family members of children who are seriously ill with a medical-free space to rest, relax and recharge inside the hospital, while being mere steps from their child’s bedside.

Bradford’s McDonald’s supports families of ill children by helping make sure families have somewhere to stay when their young ones are in a Toronto hospital.
The Bradford location was one of 16 northern Ontario McDonald’s locations that raised $1 million for Ronald McDonald House Toronto’s recently-built facility on McCaul Street in downtown Toronto.
The new facility is larger than the previous Ronald McDonald House in Toronto.
