Musically Inspired Poetry
Students in Grades 4-8 are currently working on a musically inspired poetry assignment.
By examining the lyrics of one of their favourite songs, students will attempt to pick out various poetic devices they have learned about in class. We enjoyed doing a whole class activity to prepare for this assignment, taking apart Katy Perry's "Fireworks." Who knew metaphors, similes, alliteration and onomatopoeia could be found throughout this inspiring song!
